We have just decided on the theme for 2007.

The show theme will be a B-25 salute, like we did for the B-17s.

We have been talking to the owners, and have 20 B-25s lined up at this time, with maybe a few more to add.

This will be the largest gathering of B-25s (catch 22 was 18? aircraft) we think most should make it like the B-17 year (I would guess 75%)

At this time we are not sure if we will be on our first weekend of August, as some owners might not be available on that weekend.

We will keep you updated as we go.

Michael,

That sounds like an awesome idea!

We'd better put up a link to the Thunder Over Michigan website somewhere near the beginning of this thread so people can find the link easily, even if there's nothing about the 2007 airshow on the website yet:

I still remember the last gathering of B-25s when Thunder Over Michigan commemorated the anniversary of the 1942 Doolittle Raid on Japan.  After spending most of the day inside the airshow grounds, I drove outside and parked across the highway near the end of the runway just prior to the B-25 mass launch.  As B-25 after B-25 lifted off and banked hard right over my head, I got chills and felt as if I had gone back in time.  From the nearly 200 airshows I've attended over the years, this remains one of my most vivid memories.  With all due respect to photography -- which is the primary point of this website -- and to paraphrase an old saying, one eyewitnessing was worth a thousand pictures.  I can't wait to re-live this experience!

It looks like we will need to move the show to the infield of the airport to fit all the B-25s together.

We should have a good showing of 25s from the south and west US, besides the east and Midwest.

I really look forward to seeing a large group of flying B-25s at the show.  It's a great theme with such a large number of potential participants available.

I really enjoyed 2005 with the 8 B-17s participating and 2006 was a Great show also.  In both years, though, it was the variety of aircraft that flew in and participated that made the shows for me.  The jet warbirds in 2005 (FJ-4B Fury and others and the variety of other WWII and Post WWII warbirds were as much if not more of a highlight for me than the B-17s.  And again in 2006, although more Skyraiders would have been nice, I was not disappointed by the rest of the great mix of aircraft including the WWII birds and the Collings Skyhawk, the US-2B Tracker, the BAHF C-54 and many more.

The strength and variety of the overall mix at Thunder Over Michigan is what has made this a great show for me along with the Arrival Day setup and the great Photo Pit setups.

Keep up the Great Work.  You have done a terrific job with this first rate air show event.

Jim,
Thank you for the kind words and support of our endeavor.
We "rack our brains" every year to present a different and exciting show.
I am sure that what we have planned for 2007 will not disappoint anyone.  Wink

We have deals all done for 15 of the B-25s as to date, with a few more to finalize.

Bretten, didn't you learn anything from Bernardo's thread on apostrophe's?

Next time say, "That are quite a bit of Mitchells".
