these first 3 were started in 2012, but finished in 2013

Just completed, and will be paired with a 433rd WPS F-22 in a combined display. Used Two Bobs decals

I used a set of Hasegawa main wheels as the Italeri F-15C ones are from their F-15E kit. Used Caracal Models decals

thanks! I use the old-style turkey feather exhausts because you won't see them. I mix some white glue with water just to thin it a bit. I take a small section of tissue, maybe 2x2 inches, and drape over the nozzle. I then glob on the glue mixture to wet the mixture and keep brushing to get the tissue to drape down over the sides of the nozzle. It doesn't have to be even around the circumference. Let fully dry and use small scissors to trim the cover evenly. Then I use simple craft paint and paint. Sometimes I add a unit badge to the backs like this:

Oh, and on the pic above, the vent covers are red sections cut from a paper grocery bag that had red text and graphics on it, with a dab of white glue to hold them in place.

One of these days I need to photograph and document how I do the nozzle covers, I get asked quite a bit

Just finished today, 1:48th Hasegawa F-15D with Caracal Models F-15 ANG Part 2. The sheet has markings for F-15C 85-0118, but I wanted to do a D model first. I made the crew names, and New England Patriots markings (on right, front fuselage) and printed on ink jet decal paper

thanks for looking
cheers

More great work Ken. Afro  Even for a master, where does one get the time to get so much quality work accomplished while also taking superb photos at flying events?  No need to answer.

1:48th Testors F/A-18A/B made into a D by adding appropriate antennae bumps and Legend Productions ejection seats, using Superscale decals for VMFA(AW)-242 "Bats". HARM missiles from the Hasegawa F-16J kit. Cut and dropped flaps, and cut and angled rudders.

Finally built a model of a VMFA(AW)-242 "Bats" Hornet. I used the very basic and somewhat crude Testors F/A-18A/B kit. A couple years ago, it originally was going to be a B adversary, but I lost steam on that project. I had dropped the flaps, and removed the rudders and repositioned a bit inward. I also replaced the kit's rear horizontal stabs with Revell ones, and placed tubing in the fuselage to accept them. The Testors ones have tabs and apply in a horizontal fashion. I wanted mine to droop a bit. I also added the wing tip formation light panels.

So I removed the tail stiffeners, added the appropriate D antennae and painted it in the light grey pattern, and used Legends ejection seats. Added the Superscale decals and HARMS are from the Hasegawa F-16J kit.

Did the weathering with a mechanical pencil and then blending with a Q-tip. I noticed in the pic there is a bit of silvering still with the crew names, the flash picks that up.

Built for a friend that used to be in the unit.

thanks for looking,

cheers
