Bing MapHere is the 2008 thread.Every year the
Midwest Antique Aircraft Club (MAAC) holds their
Grassroots Fly-In at Brodhead airport (C37).
It's nominally a "members only" event, but that's really only enforced people flying-in. You can join MAAC at the event, too.
All the runways except 9/27 are closed during the fly-in, so the light is pretty good for take-offs and landings.
It's tough for static aircraft pointed to the north, and that seems to be the favored orientation.
Many of the hangers are open during the fly-in. Brodhead has one of the most eclectic collections of aircraft anywhere. For example, there are two flying Blériot monoplanes there, along with the restored prototype for the J-3 Cub.
