Here's one of my Schlieren photo from Friday.  You can see it below the intake area.

This is the sneak pass on Saturday from the bay.

I feel it's my best action shot to date.  The picture is uncropped, zoom at 250mm, and the last good one in the sequence.  He rocketed by so fast, and so close - it was truly unbelievable!  Really, just what I had always wanted!!

I was on board the USCGC Sockeye, on the western edge of the safety zone.  We were almost in line with the pass, maybe no more than 50 yards south of it.
There were many boats idling close by which would have gotten a similar view.  Only thing is, most people probably weren't looking!  The disadvantage of that location though, is giving up on most of the other shots.  There are some other very unique and close up looks as a consolation though!

Sweet shot Bernie... though I selfishly wish you were shooting video (w/audio) from where you were  Cool Cool Cool Must have been awesome to see and you caught it well!

My version of The Sneak -- I like this one cuz in teh BG you see the tunnel I commute through on my way to the office.... The sneak started very high on Friday and seemed to take a long time to "get low". There was only a short window to catch it horizontally, and I barely missed it (see Ones that Got Away).

Thanks!  I sometimes bring an audio recorder to the airshows, but I neglected to do so this go around (oh, the shame).  The audio was simply incredible - it's like an MLRS rocket launching, and I really should have been wearing earplugs!

Hi Mark,
Very nice Coastguard rescue helicopter shots!  Were you at Marina Green for those?
The helicopter flipped directions today, and I was at the other side - so both days I got the back end of the helicopter!  Far, far away shots for me.

I've never been to Thursday.  How much flight did you see on Thu comparing to other days?

Turned out to be a nice day today- bit of a scare when the fog wouldn't clear from the bridge.  Right at showtime, it went clear everywhere Smiley  Drive to SF was 3 hours with a 5:45 am start.  Total drag on the way back- 5 1/2 hours.  I'm now dead.

I was on the pier yesterday...but after watching some of the vapor from down by the bridge end I was wishing I had switched days.  Oh yeah and that F18 blowing the sound barrier...was that nuts or what?  Bet that one felt good on the pier.
