Having former Douglas Aircraft (McDonnell-Douglas) heritage in my blood, the venerable DC-3/C-47 has always held a soft spot in my heart, So, I'll add a few C-47/C-53 Skytrain/Dakota shots from 2011.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's C-47 Dakota Mk III ZA947 at the 2011 Cotswold Airshow at Kemble. She is now painted in the markings of FZ692 "Kwicherbichen" that flew with 233 Squadron during D-Day operations 1944.

The former Wings Venture C-47, 315211, J8/B, N1944A  at the 2011 Cotswold Airshow at Kemble. This was the last airshow this aircraft flew in the UK as she has now been sold to a US based museum.

The Dakota Norway Foundation's C-53D c/n 11750, LN-WND at the 2011 Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford. She was originally delivered to the USAAF at the end of June 1943 as 43-68823

Got a different view of the DC-3! Here is a link to my channel where you can see the videos I took of the flight. http://www.youtube.com/user/iamsam2407?feature=mhee

Then I switched sides

Then my free ride was over just like that. Thanks to the pilot/owner of this beautiful bird for the ride. Here are a few more pictures.

For a twin radial I thought it was going to be loud and going to have to talk loud, but in all honesty that plane puts you to sleep! Very enjoyable ride!
