I am planning on going to the Houston show this October for the first time.  The lineup looks amazing and it is likely to be one of the top 3 shows I will attend this year.  The other two of the top 3 are Planes of Fame Chino which I went to last month and Thunder Over Michigan next month.

I am going to Oceana in September and that should be an outstanding show too.  Incidentally Oceana 2009 was one of only two Oceana shows I have missed in the last 15 to 20 years or so.  I did not go to the shows in 2009 or 2000 due to bad weather.

Minor update: The ACC axed the F-16 along with the cut backs on demos

Big update:

For Fencecheckers who went to the 2010 WOH air show and got some pictures, WOH is running a photo contest of photos from the 2010 show on the Facebook page, with some pretty sweet prizes:

Grand Prize

Photo Pit and Sunrise Photo Tour premium passes for both days of the 2011 Wings Over Houston Airshow. Sunrise Photo Tour features pre-dawn entry and small-group escorted tour of the airshow displays with sunrise over the flightline. Photo Pit offers a front-line, unobstructed view from a controlled-access area with risers, tent, lunch, drinks and more!

2nd Prize

Photo Pit premium pass for either Saturday or Sunday of the 2011 Wings Over Houston Airshow.

3rd Prize

Sunrise Photo Tour premium pass for either Saturday or Sunday of the 2011 Wings Over Houston Airshow.

Submit your photos and vote for the winners when voting starts in August, as well as view the rules here: http://www.facebook.com/WingsOverHoustonAirshow?sk=app_95936962634

Any chance with the Horsemen removing themselves from the line-up and 'Bud' Day being added to the Heroes tent that the Collings F-100 might find its way on to the flying schedule?  Or possibly the F-4?

I know that's a little optimistic and maybe even delusional but those aircraft are based out of Ellington and have nothing better to do that weekend.

One would hope, but unfortunately each of those aircraft has a roughly $10,000 fee for the show. Just like the Cold War Air Museum Hind, they'd need a good sponsorship for it.

How much do The Horsemen cost?

The Hind would be another great option, but I'm still going to hope something can happen with the F-100 until someone says otherwise.

I don't know the answer to that, but if you post the question on the WoH facebook page, the show staff is very good at answering those things in detail.

The Horsemen are a sponsored act so they are basically free for the show. However, they have announced a one-month safety stand down which removes two of the remaining three shows on their schedule. This was one of the shows.

I don't know if we will ever get to see the CF F-100 or F-4 fly at this show...the show never has come up with the cash to fly CF stuff except for the Huey and the A-4 last year.

The costs for the F-4 and F-100 for WOH are not $10,000 each. The airplanes are not free to fly and WOH can get them cheaper than any airshow in this nation due to not having to cover ANY travel gas. As for the A-4 and Huey the past 2 years, both were given an extreme discount to fly. I won't give exact numbers, but I will say it was cheaper than even the experience or training flights that are offered.

Part of the line up not posted on this Fence Check list also includes Heavy Metal Jet team. They will also be coming. Unfortunately with everything that has been going on in the airshow industry from AF cutbacks to fatalities, we are not having the fantastic line up we were going to have. Nevertheless we always try to have a great show. Thanks for the support to all of those who comes out and spreads the word about our airshow.

Still looks pretty fantastic to me! World war 2, Korea, Vietnam, modern, future...it's awesome!

The website and facebook is now showing the Hornet demo has now been upgraded to a Super Hornet. Curiously, both Facebook and the webpage is showing it to be an 'E' rather than an 'F'. I didn't know the 'E' models flew full demos.  Jaw Drop
