In March of 1966 it was decided that the XB-70 - AV/2 would be flown down to Carswell AFB in Ft. Worth, TX  for the airshow there. It was to be the only airfield that Ship Two would fly to and return.

Looks like a great airshow!

Truly wonderful shots of the Valkyrie. It was an air-breather, but she always seemed more like a spaceship to me. Even when I saw the survivor in the AF Museum I got the same impression.  Related: I only saw a couple of RA5C Vigilantes up close, but I swear there was a technology exchange between the two programs.

Wear that NAA emblem proudly, Ztex, there was nothing NAA couldn't do.

P.S. Two years before these photos I had a '59 Chevy Impala just like the white one in photo #6.

ZTEX,

This thread answers the question I just posted in the Ft Worth, TX. thread.  Awesome to see these classic photos.

Was there ever, I mean ever, a more awesome aircraft than the XB-70?  Heck NO.  The B-58 in the last photo is quite an awesome bird as well.

Boy, it must have been cool to experience the days where new fighter and bomber aircraft came out every couple years.

The new hardware is awesome, and more capable, but it was cool when every new model was trying to best the previous model, and competitors aircraft in speed.

These photos are amazing.  I barely remember when it came to town. . .I think I was about 8 at the time.  I remember my older brother had a model of the XB-70.  Thanks for posting these.

Wow !! .... AWESOME photos of the XB-70 at FT. Worth back in 1966 !!
That's definitely one jet I wished I could've seen fly in person also.
