I've been using the beta for a while now and just ordered my V1 copy yesterday. You can download a 30 day trial version at www.adobe.com to see what you think. It is the full version and if you choose to order it you can simply enter the serial number and not even insert the installation CD!

 Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

Anybody here purchase this software yet? I'm interested in purchasing soon and would like to hear from someone who may have some time with it.
I'm downloading the trial version now.

I been using it for 2 days now.

I didn't like the way you edit in PS after doing all the adjustments - I was right clicking and "editing in PS" so it would create a PSD called xxx-edit.psd which was becoming a royal pain in the a#%.

Then I looked at some tutorial videos courtesy of NAPP and hello! it all became clear - use the export option - doh!

anyway now I really like it - I do everything in LR apart from the following - dust spot cleaning, final sharpening and converting to JPG (I find the export covert to JPG doesn't produce the best results)

I have to say that it's really well thought out and an nice looking and (in the end) intuitive program - but I would advise anyone that uses it to watch some basic tutorials, as it works in a different way to bridge or CS2.

Paul,

I agree and seem to do the same adjustments in photoshop as you, with the rest in lightroom.

I assume these are the videos you referred to, http://www.photoshopuser.com/?page=lightroom/videos&video=sk_library_sorting
if so I found them very useful too.

I also bought Scott's new book on Lightroom and, as ever, it is just brilliant. I STRONGLY recommend getting the book before getting into Lightroom as he does his usual step by step and with Lightroom this means from the very first import of all the existing pictures.

I like the look of Lightroom, and the fact that I can archive, edit and sort images in one package. Question for those of you who currently use it. Do you use the keywords functionality to allow you to create a searchable database of your pics?

I currently store the basic data of my pics in IMatch, which allows me to add details of type, operator, location and reg (if a unique a/c) and this allows me to easily pull up all my F-14's for example, but the functionality in Lightroom seems even easier.

Would be a pain to go through all my pics again, wonder if I can import the database info into Lightroom?

I don't personally use it to store keywords - it has one flaw in that if you have more than around 1000 photos in its database it begins to slow way down - this has been discussed all over the net.

So I guess the answer is that it wouldn't be a good database replacement.

I tend to use it to import/rename/add copyright/post process - once done I remove those photos from the database to keep the speed up and archive then to external hard drives
