Just thought I would say I highly doubt an A-10 Demo will occur, A-10 West is in California, and A-10 East is done until they restart up at Moody.

Steve,

Here is a link the Indianapolis Airshow. I just spoke with a gentlemen concerning advance ticket sales. He said the information should me up on the website in about 10 days.

http://www.indyairshow.com/

Indy has some very good options for seating. There are a couple different tented areas and a grandstand for seating. They are located on the north side of the taxiway beside runway 7/25 which is the main runway for the show. I sat with my dad last year in the Aviator's Club seating. It is to me a very good deal. You pay a little more, but you get a catered lunch and all the soda and water you want. Rest room facilities are located within the area as well. Last year, a monsoon type rain came through on Sunday morning and if it hadn't been for the large tent, we would have been drenched to the bone, as most other folks were. The areas have direct access on the fence line to the taxiway and runway for some pretty good photo opportunities.

The areas are all explained on the website.

Should be another pretty good show this year at Indy. The "Blues" will be flying this year. They will launch from IND and perform their show over Mt. Comfort.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Lance

Lance, after careful thought and confirming my wife's visit to her aunt in Indianapolis, I am taking your advice and have decided to go with her and bought the Aviator Club package for the weekend.  Dance  Thanks

Site update: A-10, F-22, B-2 and F-117 has been taken off the site....HOWEVER there is a B-2 and F-117 flying around that weekend so it is in the realm of possibilities.  And also talking with one of my buddies, the 181st FW F-16's from Terre Haute will be making a couple flybys each day.  This is cool for everyone cause this will be there last flybys before they are decomissioned the next week:(.

Strange they'd take the 117s off the schedule. There are a pair of them at Wright-Patterson for the Summer, and that's only a stone's throw from Mt Comfort  Roll Eyes

That's actually a very nice deal and offer! Too bad more photo places don't do similar things at other shows! Hopefully they'll make out ok- I wonder what kind of pub they're putting out. Larry- how did you hear of this?

What is the difference between General Reserved Seating and Aviator's Club ? Does General reserved make any difference from photography standpoint ?

Also, note that on 25th B2 is going to be in Kansas City, Otis and Mansfield in Ohio - Indianapolis is right on its way from Kansas City or Whiteman AFB to Ohio places - still hope it will shop up...

KZ,

General Reserved Seating is out in the open. The Aviator Club seating has a large tent. There may not be difference from a photography standpoint, but last year, a virtual "Monsoon" rain came through on Sunday and both my Dad and I were gals that we had purchased the Aviator Club tickets. The folks in General Reserved Seating in the grandstand just got drenched. Also the Aviator Club has a catered lunch, all the water and sode you can drink and on site rest room facilities and you're right up on the taxiway. In my mind it is well worth the extra money for the Aviator Club tickets. I agree with Hugh. I wish that more shows would offer this type of arrangement.

Gates open at 9:00 am both days with flying starting approximately 10:30 am.  However, everyone, come early because parking will be limited on base.  Check out the air show website for off site parking.  The B-24 that will be appearing as a static is the only flying B-24 in the world.

jds

Not true. The B-24 that will be at the Indianapolis Airshow is not the only flying B-24 in the world. The Collings Foundation has a B-24J model that is the only "true" B-24 that is currently flying in the world. The B-24 that will be at the Indianapolis Airshow belongs to the Commemorative Air Force and is actually an LB-30A. This aircraft was built as a B-24A, the first B-24A Liberator bombers for the Royal Air Force of Great Britain. Early production models of the B-24A were delivered to the British with the first six off the line known as LB-30A's. This aircraft, the 18th LB-30 of an order of 20 for Great Britain, was involved in an accident in Albuquerque, New Mexico in July of 1941.

Consolidated rebuilt it to a transport configuration with seats and windows installed in the fuselage. They also installed a cargo door on the left hand rear of the aircraft. Consolidated used this aircraft as a company aircraft throughout World War II. This aircraft flew for many years as "Diamond Lil" in the Desert Sand colors of the 9th Air Force. Just recently the aircraft underwent a new camouflage paint job back to the way it was when it was originally manufactured. The aircraft is now named "Old 927".

Uh, I'm a bit confused. I've never known the parking to be limited. Am I missing something?

I think what jds means is that the airport parking is limited and you'll probly have to take a shuttle and park farther away if you arrive late.
