I agree, the weather last year did stink. Made for for great vapor shots though. Last year was the first year I bought Aviator Club passes for my Dad and myself. It really paid off on Sunday when the monsoon came through Mt. Comfort. I'll definitely pay for the Aviator Club tickets again this year.

Looking forward to seeing the Blues at Mt Comfort in August.

This show was great last year despite the rain.  For such a small show, the organizers do a terrific job.  I especially enjoyed attending the practice show on Friday, since most shows will only allow those with media credentials into the show.

Question:  will the Blue Angels stage directly from the show site, or will they stage off-site like the Thunderbirds did last year?

Best,
Mike.

Mike,

I wouldn't say it is a small show considering all the warbirds, other acts and usually two Military Jet demo team present and TBirds/Angels.

Yes, the runway is too short for T-birds/Angels.... they staged at the Indy International airport by the Post Office Ramp. I saw both teams in 05 and 06 on my flights to the show.  Cheesy

Thanks for the info on the jet teams Ken.  I guess I meant the size of the field when I said small, but the show certainly does bring in its fair share of big acts.  It was one of my favorite shows last year and I'm really looking forward to this year.
Best,
Mike.

I'm considering attending this air show.  Where are the various seating/standing options located on the field?  I'm trying to figure out the lighting we'd have to contend with.  Thanks

Please note none of these teams are listed on the ACC site of approved shows. Just a heads up for those people going in order to see these acts. The F-117 team's schedule for July/August hasn't been released yet so that's a posibility.

Steve,

Here is a link the Indianapolis Airshow. I just spoke with a gentlemen concerning advance ticket sales. He said the information should me up on the website in about 10 days.

http://www.indyairshow.com/

Indy has some very good options for seating. There are a couple different tented areas and a grandstand for seating. They are located on the north side of the taxiway beside runway 7/25 which is the main runway for the show. I sat with my dad last year in the Aviator's Club seating. It is to me a very good deal. You pay a little more, but you get a catered lunch and all the soda and water you want. Rest room facilities are located within the area as well. Last year, a monsoon type rain came through on Sunday morning and if it hadn't been for the large tent, we would have been drenched to the bone, as most other folks were. The areas have direct access on the fence line to the taxiway and runway for some pretty good photo opportunities.

The areas are all explained on the website.

Should be another pretty good show this year at Indy. The "Blues" will be flying this year. They will launch from IND and perform their show over Mt. Comfort.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

This looks like it is shaping up to be another good one. I always enjoy the warbird presence at this show. The only problem I ever have, though is the seating. If you don't pay the extra to sit in the "la-de-da" area, you take your chances. The posistion of the numerous tents can make it next-to-impossible to view anything flying low to the ground. Don't get me wrong----I feel there SHOULD be special seating areas for those who choose to take advantage of them. I just wish they were in an area away from the general seating , like they are at Dayton.

Brian,

I agree with you. The first year Dad and I came to Mt. Comfort, we did not purchase the "club" tickets and it was very difficult to get good shots as you are behind the tents or so far down the showline from any action. As mentioned, last year I'm glad I purchased the Aviator Club tickets. Dad stayed back under the tent and I was out on the fenceline. When the "monsoon" hit, I beat back under the tent until the skies cleared. I will do the Aviator Club again this year.
