A-4s and a Tomcat in the background?  Very cool!

I just talked to a friend of mine at work that is still in the Reserves... seems the Static Dispalay Aircraft are in the process of getting refubished and repainted...

That is what I thought at the time.  However, the tower was calling winds 200 to 210 at 16 knots when the B-52's were performing TnG's, and the active was runway 17.
That does not seem like an excessive crosswind.  Also, since Skull 01 and Scout 25 dipped opposite wings, maybe there were swirling winds near midfield..?

Well, I just finished looking through every page of this forum and I must say I am VERY impressed with the shots I saw in here.  It seems as if you get a personal airshow everyday!!  I am amazed at the variety of aircraft that comes through.  Is it this busy everyday?  Is there just an airpark where you hang out to get these shots?

no, it's not this busy everyday.  Sometimes you will hang out there and get nothing but an Air National Guard C-130 doing touch and gos for hours.  Other days it's a really nice variety of stuff.  There is a gravel area off a public roadway that is next to the runway.  That is where most of the shots you see are taken from.  There is also a public park at the north end of the runway across the lake and other photos are taken from the Ridgemar Mall / Wal-Mart Parking Areas.  I think pretty much everything in this thread was shot from public areas off base.  It's really a great place to spot and take photos.  I think sometimes we don't realize how good we have it.  Being in the middle of the US affords us lots of interesting transient aircraft...you never know what will show up any given day.  But it's hit or miss...

Brandon's right,   you never know.   I have been spotting out there since about 2004 and one day you might see Air Force One while the next day you might not see anything.   I think with it being a Joint Reserve Base and also the location of the Lockheed-Martin plant, we see a large variety of both Air Force and Navy aircraft.

Nice shots, Josh. As I left my work today at 5PM, I thought, wow blue skies and a north wind, perfect...to go mow the lawn. Glad you were there to capture them.  Envy
