I love these!

That top photo. . .  Interesting how they would enclose the wings of the B-36's during maintenance.
They couldn't build enough hangar space so they had the mobile wing covers.

I thought they used one of the B-52 hulks for fire fighting practice?

Zane, there used to be a fire trainer in that same area. It was a large steel tube simulating a BUFF fuselage. They would spray it with contaminated fuel (JP4 that had been downloaded from an airplane) and set it ablaze. A real aluminum airplane would have melted and made a mess.

Frank. Cool shot from the Pacer.

I wasn't meaning a burn trainer, I was thinking more along the lines of egress/ rescue training.... I just remember one being out there on the grass across from the golf course for a long time.

OK, now that's very possible.

For any of you guys in Ft Worth who care to get out today the Thunderbirds are coming into today to Nas Ft Worth for the NBA All-star game, not sure what time they will be arriving so it might be pointless to go out there if they have already arrive.

Guys, it was coooooooold at the Spot. It was very cloudy and right before they took off took off but a bit of sun came out just as they took off. What was really neat was seeing them come in at night. They were all in trail and it was a pretty site to see. First Thunderbird night landing we have seen. They used the call sign Thunderbird 16 and your right, they were off in a hurry and didnt use much runway.

Also right before they took off, the PAX Salty Dog F-18 and KC-130 Tanker came in so looks like BF-3 may be up for some tanking and endurance flights this week.

Nice shots Zane!! Looks like she will be going to Pax soon. One thing I have noticed about BF-3 is they have not had near the troubles that they had with BF2. They seem to start her right up, go through their checklists and launch pretty quick.
