Looks more like an HH-3F Jolly Green to me. A Sea King has a tail wheel, this is a nose wheel job wit a rear ramp.

I believe this might be a CH-53E, but don't take it to the bank just yet.

( As Hans already pointed out... it isn't a Sea King! )

I think I might have a photo of a Sea King for ya.... let me check my archives and see
what I can find.

Nope.... I don't have a shot of a Sea King, but I did find THIS one:

( It's a MH-53E from Navy HC-4 out of NAS Sigonella, Italy! )

I have to learn to stop and look more closely... thanks for the corrections and alternate suggestions.

I was really just trying to get a sense of scale going on.  Either way, it's one really big plane!

Cheers

Don't feel bad.... and you are right, it sure is one big airplane!

It was here for only 2 days, and then it was gone.
I'm glad I was able to get a shot of it.

I wonder why the US doesn't use C-5's to earn some money for civilian transportation? We've had that Antonov 124 in Pease twice to move these huge shipping blocks for huge turbines.

I'd guess the first thing is that the US Government and it's branches cannot operate as a commercial entity or in a commercial endeavor.

instead of chopping the C141.  Make a branch for civilian use. The money would go to the military funds.

Great shots Dave. The 124 flew low over Riverside on Saturday. He came in from the direction of March and was heading towards Ontario but had the gear out as he passed over head, so not exactly sure what he was doing.

The An-225 was in Raleigh Durham last Friday for just over 12 hours. Sadly I had no idea it was coming in and left the airport about 15 minutes after it touched down... Back in the early 90's I had the opportunity to crawl all over the Myria while in Columbus, OH. It is simply an amazing aircraft, it's hard to believe, parked nose to nose with a C-5, that it makes the Galaxy not only look small, but like a toy.

Sadly it is at least for now, unique. As the Antonov pilot told me "We could put half of the population of our country inside and fly them around."
