Nick,
Love the shot of the flames coming out of John's engine. I didn't get that one but wish I had.

I think I'll use the Chuck Yeager quote here: "I'd rather be lucky than good anyday."

Nick,
Your too modest. You should have said that you planned that shot all the way!

Thanks for the welcome guys. Wow, I didn't realize how obnoxious that lens looks while in use. I got it for birding but found it works for airshows as well but it is a beast to handhold for long periods of time. Doing research on this site and others as well as seeing what other people are shooting at airshows tells me that the 100-400 is one of the most popular airshow lenses. Maybe next year.

I was meaning to talk to you about how obnoxious that lens is. I think it would be best if you just left it at home from now on. I would hate to see this escalate any further. Especially if the authorities need to get involved.

Craig - an insight - Nick is one of those "positive" sarcastic people.

Hold on here, no need to get the authorities invovled.
If I left the 500 at home, that would leave me with the 70-200 which is too short. I've been thinking about starting to lift weights so I can handhold this thing for 4 hours straight but as I was sitting on the couch watching tv, I thought better of it. The 100-400 is in my future, just not this year. Maybe if I took the lens shade off, it would look better.
Craig.
