Costco.   About 45 usd for a 1 gig san disk card.  (Ultra II)  If you have a UK membership you should be fine, if not I am sure one of us can hook you up.

Ian,

Another place you might want to check out when you are here in Phx is Fry's Electronics. They also have some stores in the LA area also.

http://www.outpost.com   is the web site and it will give you an idea of there prices the in store price is most likely a few $ more.

As for camera shops here in PhX there is Tempe Camera, FotoForum, and Photomark along with several Ritz Cameras. Expect to pay $$$$ at these shops.

In LA take Mulholland Drive.  There is a spot that overlooks the Hollywood Bowl.  Really nice views from up there when it is not smoggy.  (good luck.)  Also try the Griffith Park observatory.  Looks out over the valley...nice.

In San Diego...Go out to Pt. Loma.  The Cabrillo Monument has great views overlooking the city.  Balboa Park has some nice views of downtown and is a must visit place in it's own right.   Go over to Coronado to the Ferry Landing.  Nice veiws of downtown across the bay there.  Shelter and Harbor Islands offer very nice views of San Diego.

Photos are of LA from Mulholland and SD from Harbor Island.

Nimitz and Reagan are both in port for the time being.  Decent views to be had from Seaport Village and most of Harbor Drive.  Can't see much of them in Coronado.  Best bet is to take one of the harbor cruises.  These will take you as close as you can get to the carriers, subs and assorted stuff down at the Naval Station.

Ian,

For the Phx skyline you can try South mountain or the top of the Terminal 4 garage at the airport.  Afro

One other option is Squaw Peak. it offers 360 degree views of the valley but it is also quite a hike to the top.

Ian,

I would go for the hike to the top of peak in the morning as it will be nice and cool then head out to Willy in the afternoon as the sun will be in a more favorable position for you.  Afro

Let me know when you get out here and i will see what my schedule looks like perhape we can meet out at willy or luke some time.

Just to let anyone in the LA area know Samy's Camera is having a big sale at the minute, plus no sales tax through the 20th. For example you can get the Digital Rebel with 18-55, a 1GB CF card, tripod, 300 prints and a photography class for $599. Even if you don't use the prints or class that's still a great price.

I like Sammy's, now if they only had a coffee shop inside I would leave.
