As I am still mainly stuck to slide film (YES, here we go again...) I was wondering if some of you already used beamers for projecting digital scans from CD on to a screen or a wall.

During the Winter months, its nice to join together with some friends for our annual slide evening projecting some of past years results and enjoy some more of the WOW factor of slides. It became some kind of tradition over the past years for us to sit together a long evening with some six packs, picking on each others effords and re-enjoy the past years events.

I know its possible to show digital scans by beamer but am wondering if we still get the same WOW factor back when projecting them on a screan. What kind seize of files are we talking about if we want to project them in a good, sharp image ? Sticking our noses into the PC or a TV screen is still not much fun for me after some hours.

Would be glad to hear some experiences from all you beamers.... Tongue

I don't have any experience with these beamers, but they have a limited resolution, so I guess that the files should be the maximum resolution of what the beamer is capable of projecting.  I think the high end ones go to 1024x768 or something.

Hope this helps a bit  Undecided

FWIW, I think the line may have been ``At least I still have my motor skills.``  But it was all kinda fuzzy... - M.M. aka Rainman

Images are just as sharp...if not sharper.  No dust, no furry kodachrome cardboard mount edges and much easier to file!  No more trays.

Another big plus in comparison to slide projectors is the fact that you are not harming the images by projecting them.  Many pro-photogs who own slides and send them to magazines or serivice outlets have in their contract a requirement not to show slides throu a projector.  The intense light and heat from the projector bulb has been known to fade transparencies over time...not a good thing.  Now eliminated by the beamers
