For those in he area, this show usually has some nice photo ops.  You are farily close to the runway, the sun is to your back and they have some nice warbirds show up most of the time!

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...........

Not today ... Bluebird skies, 75 degrees, great pre-show access and a great practice routine ...
Nope it ain't whizblur jets ... just plain old-fashioned seat of the pants workmanship' that we all just wish we could photograph better (in my case- a whole lot better ... Embarrassed) let alone actually do.

A few shots from the show on Saturday.  Rather a small affair, and I was disappointed that Classic Rotors' H-21 Shawnee didn't turn up, after being at last year's show.  Still, the mountains provide a nice backdrop and the weather was delightful (take that, Minnesota Mafia   Evil).

There was major frustration for the prop-blur fanatics who tried to get a full arc during the dead-stick section of "Doc D's old-time aerobatics" routine, flown in a 1946 Taylorcraft:

The announcer reminded us half a dozen times that this Tiger Moth had been flown both by Charles Lindbergh and "Buzz" Aldrin:

A nice formation flyby of a Piper Cub, Antonov An-2 "Colt" and Boeing Stearman (out of frame), all of which I believe belong to the Cable family who own the airport (which, we were reminded at least half a dozen times, is one of the few American airports which is privately owned):

I didn't know it before today, but Cable is the home base for Rob Harrison, better known as the "Tumbling Bear", flying his Czech designed Zlin 50 aerobatics plane:

My personal highlight of the show is this nice banked pass by a Ryan PT-22 trainer -shiny!

No fewer than 5 O-1 Bird Dog forward air controller planes flew on the day, 4 of them in formation:

Chino was holding an event on the same day and sent over two of their P-51s to grace the skies over Cable with a couple of passes:

...as well as a two-seater P-40 Warhawk:

We were also lucky enough to get a visit from a JASDF F-15 Eagle:

I'm not sure what model of F-15 this is, or what model of missiles those are, but when I find out what model they are, I'll tell you about it.    Evil

Richard.

Hmmm.  The weather was nice.  Didn't see a single other FC'er, though obviously they were there.

Well yes, now I can connect a face to s9d9!!!

With the tell-tale 100-400IS I should have known you were FC. I guess I should have baited you with my camera bag to see if you were the real thing. I ran into Old Money/Photog/Gar and he said that a few FC's were roaming so I kept my hand over the Nikon logo and kept my bag on my shoulder.  Smiley
