Received this news from ICAS today...

STRIKE EAGLE TO BE ADDED AS AIR SHOW SINGLE SHIP DEMO

U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command recently announced the addition of an F-15E Strike Eagle Demonstration Team to its air show program beginning next year. In 2006, the Air Force will have seven air show demonstration teams: F-16 east and west; F-15C east and west; A-10 east and west, and the new F-15E Strike Eagle team based out of Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina.

The addition of the Strike Eagle Demonstration Team is part of a long-term plan to incorporate an F/A-22 Raptor Demonstration Team into the U.S. Air Force air show program. In 2006, the new Strike Eagle team will share air show flying duties with the F-15C East Coast Demonstration Team based at Langley AFB. In 2007, the F-15C East Coast Demo Team will then stand down to make way for the Raptor Demo Team.

Coo, will it do those USAF demo team airshow favourites of flying-along-in-a-straight-line and turning-a-corner?  Roll Eyes

Any word on any differences between the Strike Eagle demo and the standard Eagle demo?

The only thing I can think of is less "high performance" maneuvers like those seen in the Eagle as the bigger, heavier Strike Eagle would not seem to be nearly as agile.

However, a few more high speed passes would always be welcome!

You'll probably see more "Ground Attack" maneuvers... Not exactly as what the A-10 does, but some bombing runs with pop ups maybe and some jinking on egress and stuff Smiley (was that the right term?)

That would be great!

Also, is the only Strike Eagle Demonstration Team going to be from Seymour Johnson AFB?

Meaning...no East/West team as is the case with the Eagle demos?

Is that what they do with Strike Eagles Undecided? I thought they stayed well above 10.000 ft with fancy weapons to do their dirty work...

But I agree, it's nice to have a new "mutant" entering the circuit, after the Super Hornet Dance. Hopefully they make a couple of European appearances borrowing a LN a/c, like the F-16 guys sometimes do with SP Vipers (but then again there's no market for Strike Eagles here, unlike the F-16).

On Wednesday, Jon and I both had the pleasure of attending a media day hosted by the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, NC to introduce the new F-15E Strike Eagle Demo Team. They flew a practice demo will full narration and we had the opportunity to speak with the flight and ground crew.

The Strike Eagle demo is similar to the F-15C demo, but will include two simulated strafing and bombing runs and will feature pyro if the air show organizer chooses to include a pyro provider at the show.

Just a little warm-up for the 2006 season.
