First Raptors in Europe...

I think they left Langley at about 0500 EDT; what is that, 0000 GMT? What time did they arrive over there, over there?

Nope. They can only go as fast as the tanker... supercruise is for combat.

Don't know how the USAF works with Tankers and fighters crossing large bodies of water, but does it have to be the same tanker all the way across? Can't differnet tankers from different bases be orbiting and waiting which would, of course, allow for supercruise?

I think when the SR-71 set the world speed record from NY to Paris, it had to slow to subsonic 3 times for a tanker...obviously, not the same tanker.

I'll wait for the hacker to answer, but please do so in the discussion thread.  Wink

I don't suppose it needs the sam tanker, but arranging for several hook ups with multiple tankers is an unnecessary complexity. From what I've seen, usually the same tanker accompanies the plane most of the route or another tanker switches off...

About the hacker. Does anyone else think these dirtbags need to spend some serious time in club fed? I hate hackers...

99.9% of the time it will be more than one tanker.

I'm just guessing here, but based on what I've read, I'm guessing these might be ballpark numbers:

3 jets
1 tanker
7.5 hours enroute
11 refuelings for divert gas reasons
22 personnel
