I was taking pictures today and when i came home and viewed the pictures i noticed 3 black dots on all of them. I took the pictures with a Nikon D70. Is there anyways to edit out the dust? here is an example

Healing brush in Photoshop.  And the dust probably is on your sensor, not the lens.

I came across this link on Cleaning Digital Cameras. This is one of the best site that I have seen on this subject.
Afro  This topic has been cover on this site, but this is a update to that forum

http://www.cleaningdigitalcameras.com/index.html

I cover this in the  Equipment Care & Solutions Forum : Cleaning your Digital Camera

Here one of my photos with a dust spot on the sensor, I removed it using one of the two tools here in photoshop
And Gary is right about the dust on your sensor not your lens.
But do check your lens and clean the front of your lens and or filter if one is attach.

Here are screen shots from photoshop CS ( you can also find these tools in photoshop 7)

Swabbing the sensor is, of course, a last resort, after using the clean function and trying to blow the dust off with a bulb blower.

Nooooo....not the infamous black spot!

Being that we're all in agreement that the spot is on the sensor (which it is), thought I might give my .02 about something else that will help troubleshoot.

When in doubt as to where a foreign body may be, (besides a luxury cruise with a visiting Swedish bikini team...yeah, I saw that movie too.) 99 times out of 100, the dust or foreign matter is not on the front of the lens.  Here's a good way to prove why...even with your lens focused at the nearest object...we're not talking macro here, ok...stick your finger in front of the lens, can you see it?  Well, you might, but your finger is kinda big.  Imagine how unobtrusive it would be if it were a smaller piece of dust.  The focusing distance of a lens will not pick up elements of the front of a lens.  Just like dirty glasses, things may seem a bit less contrasty or slightly fuzzy, but you won't be able to pick up an individual speck.

Every now and then, my strap on the 400 2.8 falls in front of the lens hood and I don't know it.  Believe it or not, I can't see it either!  Unless the depth of field is knocked way down, I woun't even know it's there...and that's a big strap!

Anyways, this is just general info for those searching for that elusive speck...hopefully this will help narrow down your search!

Anyone tried the "Image Dust Off" Feature? It appears to be a feature in the Nikon Capture 4/4.1 software that works with the D70. Sounds like it uses a standardized image to determine if there is dust on the sensor, and then ignores those areas on the sensor surface. Obviously not the ideal way deal with this, but probably better than manually fixing each and every shot. (Of course I'll be the first to admit that I have no knowledge of this feature other than reading it in a D70 Brochure).

Anyone experience with this kind of equipment? It's like a miniature vacuum-cleaner which fits over the sensor and sucks up all dust and other crap. Guaranteed scratch free appearently.

I have something on my sensor (figures after over 22.000 pictures) so I wonder if this is worth the € 60 to be able to keep it clean as of now.
