I was on the Hill Fri afternoon practicing with a borrowed D70 for this weekend.

This photo stinks (heat haze, no IS/VR), but look what I caught: Thrust Reversers deployed with weight off the nose gear.

I didn't think that could be done these days.

I think today was the first really clear day we've had in LA since like a week before the A380 came.

A good day to try out my new camera and to check out this Imperial Hill place I keep hearing about. Unfortunately only a few turboprops and regional jets, and one 757, used runway 24 during the half hour or so that I was there. (It was COLD!)

The first picture is from my office's parking garage, the other two are from the Hill.

Bernardoo, the shooting runways from Imperial Hill are the 25 dual's. The north complex are the 24's. You work that close to LAX and just now found the hill?? Hmmmm.... Shocked
Oh, check out how clear today will be too!!  Azn

Yes, 25 is what I meant.

I don't really shoot airliners very often. I just don't think they're that interesting-looking. The 747 is kinda interesting-looking, but that's it. For me to want so go photograph an airliner, it would have to be with an interesting background, unusual lighting, or a dramatic angle. Only when I started thinking about photographing the A380 did I realize that LAX offers all those things.
