Save for Web in Photoshop

After several people asking how to save / create images that are less than 95KB, I though it would be a good idea to begin a thread on how to save for the web.
I resize my images to 720 in width. This give you a nice large image, that is small enough for a 800x600 resolution monitor, taking into account the scrollbar and other elements of the websites where the image is posted,
Once I'm happy with the way my image looks I select "Save for Web" under "File" in the main menu of Photoshop. you will get a new window with the optimized version of the file. You can select different formats (gif, jpg, png) in which you can save your file. For photographs jpg is the best when it comes to compression and quality. Use the slider in the upper right part of the page to select the quality setting and look at the file size (below the image) so you can see that you stay below the 95KB that is the maximum file size for our forums.
That should do the trick in Photoshop.

FWIW, I think the line may have been ``At least I still have my motor skills.`` But it was all kinda fuzzy...

I follow the same steps as Roger. To illustrate this I’ve done some screen capture to show this step by step.
Photoshop CS (Mac OSX) the same step can be use with Windows.
1. This show the image at full size

2. The next step is to change size to 72dpi and the width to 720 I let the height fall in place. Hit OK

4. In this box note the image size in the lower left hand side. You will now see the size will be save at 82.93kb under the 95kb here at Fence Check. You can also change the image size by using the New Size box and hit apply. Also the size will change if you only use the Quality box higher or lower. I would keep the setting at jpeg and high. To learn more play with the setting and you will see different effects to your photo.

Gee, Roger, I think it's time to swallow hard, open that wallet of yours and buy a larger monitor!
