I haven't heard, but have noticed many AFBs are going to an every-other-year schedule.

I wonder if it could be in any way related to the horrible weather last year. Im not sure how much the budget plays into military shows, but I would think they lost a lot of profit on Saturday.

Military shows are not allowed to profit from a show. Quite likely they are yet another victim of budget and staffing cuts. You can only do so much with what you have.

At last years Tyndall Open House it was known that they would now alternate the 'Gulf Coast Salute Air Show' with Eglin AFB, so look for the next one in 2011.

Yes every other year and due to money issues is what I have heard.

Tyndall defers to Eglin for '10 air show

January 21, 2010 - Tyndall Air Force Base will not be hosting an air show in 2010, a base official confirmed Thursday.

Polly Orcutt, a spokeswoman in Tyndall’s 325th Public Affairs Office, said the base had been hosting air shows since the 1940s, although not on an annual basis. Eglin Air Force Base would be hosting an air show in April, Orcutt said.

Tyndall’s decision not to hold an air show this year was not based on any budgetary or other concerns, Orcutt said. It simply was an effort by the base to “take turns” on the event and work cooperatively with a neighboring base.

“We’re just trying to share the Panhandle air show this year,” Orcutt said.

Eglin announced in December 2009 it would hold its air show April 10-11, the show coinciding with the base’s 75th anniversary and featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. The last time Eglin hosted an air show was in April 2007.
