Convert Video to DVD/Computer HELP

I need help in deciding how to convert my video camcorder to dvd/computer.  I don't think I want to use a program like Roxio...as I had read some bad software issues.  I have windows movie maker and want to use that if I can.  I just need to know what hardware....cables.... to plug my camcorder into?  I have been looking on eBay at usb video capture adapter vhs to dvd.  I was wondering if anyone had used that before?  I have never done anything like this so ANY info would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on what connections you have on your camcorder.............if you have firewire, then use that. If not, then you will have to use the composite cables and a box that connects to your computer. Pinnacle has a kit with the needed software that will do a great job.
