CF-18 pulled from Wetaskiwin Air Show

Wetaskiwin's 2010 Air Show will be without a performance from a CF-18 Hornet.

The jet was expected to be one of the star attractions of this year's event, but a unfortunate crash during practice maneuvers at the Lethbridge Air Show July 23 has forced Canada's Air Force to cancel the Wetaskiwin performance for the CF-18 and has left the rest of the air show appearances, this year, up in the air.

"Wetaskiwin is just coming up too close. It is next week and we are not going to be ready in time," said Capt. Holly-Anne Brown, 1 Canadian Air Division Public Affairs spokesperson.

"The demo jet was destroyed and the pilot is unable to fly, we don't have a backup pilot."
