Long time no post!  I thought I'd start up with some pictures of my favorite warbird, Hell-er Bust!  Beautiful airplane.

Man I love Hell-er Bust:

Next we have Impatient Virgin, a P-51B Mustang with Malcolm hood.

Hell-er Bust, and Impatient Virgin taxiing out at Paine Field

Formation of the three local Mustangs, (top to bottom) Impatient Virgin, Upupa Epops, and Hell-er Bust.

Enjoy!!

I like those Obsession shots. I can relate to the name...  Wink

As an example: This is Excalibur at the Indiana Aviation Museum in August 2008.

Full image is 105 shots stitched into a 44 x 33 inch @ 360 ppi photo. So this is 1/10 sized and cropped to 3:2 format (sorry it's a bit large at 1300x853.) The bit cropped off is just the tarmac and shadow of the tail at the bottom.  Detail is full res cropped.

I should have taken about 30-40 more pictures to get the rest of the tail and get it in focus. I was tired from taking several hundred pictures previously.

This one was from Andrews AFB back in 2004.  Not sure who's it was or where it's from but still looks nice.

check-six,

This P-51D-25NA Mustang was built in 1945 and delivered to USAAF as "44-73843". In November 1945 the aircraft was placed in storage in Texas. In 1951 the aircraft was transferred to the RCAF as "9271". A private company in the United States brought the aircraft in 1956 and then it returned to Texas. In 1977 the aircraft was officially donated to the CAF. The aircraft now belongs to the Dixie Wing of the Commemorative Air Force. She is civilian registered as N10601.

Wow, that's some great information, Thanks Lance!  Did you know this plane or was there somewhere you can reference this kind of information?

Brian,

I knew of this Mustang when she belonged to the then Confederate Air Force in Harlingen, TX back in the late 70's.  They've since changed the name to the Commemorative Air Force. They now are operating out of Midland, TX. I received some information on this Mustang from a few folks that I met at the CAF in Harlingen. I also picked up a bit of information on her off the web.

I too went to General Aviation Day up at Paine Field last week. Had a blast. Favorite had to be the Upupa Epops of the FHC. Hope you all enjoy the photos:

Here's one I took of Vlado Lenoch and his P-51D "Moonbeam McSwine" at the 2007 Rockford Airfest after the pyro display.
