This one's for JT.  This was the guy floating around on Friday while the Hornet and Corsair were up.  It's a bald eagle, right?  Cheesy

Sam...you got some fantastic shots (as did everyone else!)  I have to ask what lens you used on that nose-up Raptor shot???  I think that's my all time fav Raptor pic...

I just found out we're heading to Houston for the Alliance show in late October.  Will hopefully have some lens upgrades by then!

I had to check the thread to make sure I was the only Sam Roll Eyes  I use a Canon 100-400 IS and a Canon Rebel Xti.  Glad you like the shot.

Hello everyone, Rockford Airfest was the first airshow I have attended. I grabbed my trusty Canon SX100 IS and my grandaughter's new SX10 IS hoping I would get at least a few good shots. I did  get a few good shots considering what equipment I had, although I must admit I am  awestruck at some of the pictures you guys were able to get. Now the worse part I do believe I have caught the bug, I have since purchased a Canon XSi with the kit lense and a 55-250 lense. I know it's not much but it will give me a start, and I'm really looking forward to next years Airfest. If anyone would like I could share a few of the shots I got.

David-

For those of us who aspire to get to where you, and several other posters on this thread, already are, would you be willing to share any info on your picture of the month?  Like where it was taken, circumstances behind being where you were to get that awesome shot, equipment and settings etc?  It would be very educational to hear the background that went into making a shot like that.  Thanks!

I recently went through the same thing with Rockford being my 2nd airshow and have since made an upgrade in equipment, moving up to a T1i. The biggest thing in talking with the group that posts here is buy a decent camera for your budget and buy the best lens you can afford. Most of all just have fun doing it. These guys are great to bounce questions off of.

I basiclly lucked into the situation......as for settings on the shot....
Shutter Priority
Shutter Speed -  1/250  I alwys keep it at this or a slower speed to get decent prop blur.
Apperture - f10 set by camera
ISO - 160 it was probably 5-5:30 and startin to get a little less light so I upd it a little bit.

Using the 100-400L  at 400mm......sadly non of my pics of him as he god closer turned out...I have a hard enough time following an aircraft 500' feet away and couple hundred feet up let alone in this situation.

Did I miss anything ?
