Fence Check was fortunate to have one of those F-14 crewmen-cum-photographers, CDR David “Bio” Baranek, USN (Ret.), talk to us about his experiences and his photography.

What an amazing article!  Thanks Bio, for sharing this with us.  Some great shots and great stories!

I used to be with "it", but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't "it", and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

It'll happen to you!

Even though, as one of the editors, I'm supposed to be impartial, I have to mention that I was tickled to see JPeGs of the same great photos I remember from The Hook when I was a plane-crazy, pimple-faced teenager.  And forget Top Gun -- Bio's life-and-death world of Phoenix-laden F-14s intercepting IL-38s was real.  Thanks for reminding us of those days, Dave.

Along with Bio, we need to thank André for doing the leg work on this one.  Bravo Zulu to both of you.  Afro
