Photographer Interview: Dave "Bio" Baranek published

Fence Check was fortunate to have one of those F-14 crewmen-cum-photographers, CDR David “Bio” Baranek, USN (Ret.), talk to us about his experiences and his photography.

Even though, as one of the editors, I'm supposed to be impartial, I have to mention that I was tickled to see JPeGs of the same great photos I remember from The Hook when I was a plane-crazy, pimple-faced teenager.  And forget Top Gun -- Bio's life-and-death world of Phoenix-laden F-14s intercepting IL-38s was real.  Thanks for reminding us of those days, Dave.

Along with Bio, we need to thank André for doing the leg work on this one.  Bravo Zulu to both of you.

Awesome article, well done Bio thanks so much for sharing with us.  Those shots do bring back memories from my teenage years for sure, MM and I are showing our age..........LOL

Wow - sweet article and photos!!  My favorite shot is the Carrier, Battleship (New Jersery I am guessing?) and Tomcat - sad we wil never see another shot like that
