Thanks Andrew, you just made my day!  Afro  Only get to see them occasionally over here at our Air Show but to be close to the station where you are I'd make a trip down there everyday just to see them.  They sure are a beautiful thing and thanks for displaying them.

Did anything from Lossiemouth take part in Fincastle this year??

Excellent shots!

Maybe I can work out some "extra-ciricular" activities (cough, RIAT, cough, spotting at various U.K. bases) when I come to study abroad in Germany next year!   Afro

Cheers,

Thanks again Attila, they are great to photograph thats for sure.

Regarding Fincastle,it was held at RAF Kinloss this year but I'm not sure who won though. Also thought I'd clarify, the Nimrods are actually based at RAF Kinloss which is only 10 miles west of Lossiemouth, its funny to see them come over to Lossiemouth considering how close home base is! I suppose its a different approach and runway to practise on.

Lossiemouth has much better viewing compared to Kinloss. The 2 Nimrod shots in the 1st post were from Kinloss though but the 2nd post shots are from Lossiemouth.

Thanks Rob!
haha, yeah you should do that! Some really great places to go around here.

Cottesmore Aviation Group have just returned from a two-day visit to Scotland to take in Exercise Neptune Warrior.

Wednesday was spent outside the base with some cracking company (nice to meet Al, Andy S, Iain, Les, Alan, and anyone else I've forgotten to mention, and great to see Andrew, Sean, Liam, Mark, Gill, Berry, Tom, plus all of the usual suspects) in less than ideal conditions till very late in the day, but even so, there were still some nice opportunities to be had.

Massive thanks, as always, to Martin and Kirstin Keen for doing all of the sorting.

Karl, that vertical of the F-4 on short final ... oh my God!  Shocked  Shocked  Shocked  Where's the "running to get out of the way" emoticon?

Great stuff! Afro

Mark - yeah, that was a pretty special sensation!!   Afro

Some more from day two of our trip:

Thursday afternoon was spent on Lossiemouth with the Phantoms.

First up, the four-ship departing from the runway caravan

Some of the Phantoms carried pencil drawn artwork to mark the exercise:

With them in the air we were moved down to their ramp where we shot the other two.  We got a welcome bonus with one of the aircraft leaving for home whilst we were present:

and then the four-ship recovering from the side of the taxiway - this fella tried SO hard to give us THE chute shot, but sadly it didn't quite work....

and then back on to the ramp to finish off:

All in all a superb afternoon.

My sincere thanks go to Group Captain Roberts for allowing us access to his station, to all his MCO staff, everyone from the JG-71 deployment for making us so welcome on their ramp, and of course to Martin Keen for bringing it all together.
