Knowing that you are a Red Flag photo expert, do you have any recommended spot for shooting the afternoon launch outside? I guess it's too far at the Speedway if they take off toward the north. I need at least a 500mm for fighters. I will see you again at Vegas next week. John

I am curious. Why is this? I will be outside on the 12th and inside on the 13th. Jeremy

inside at that time 21R/03L (main runway used) will have the sun behind it. outside you can get sun on those launches and recoveries on the right side. if its an 03 launch and 21 recovery you have to be at the speedway. if by luck they launch 21, Cheyenne can be very good.

If they launch 21, we shoud stay near the intersection of Cheyenne and Nellis Blvd eh? I will also be outside on 12 and inside on 13. Good luck to all of us!

OK Dumb question here: Will there be a 1st launch of fighters that will follow the heavies after 4pm? and then that second launch of fighters at the 10pm that you have listed here? Just not sure how it works Thanks! John

Lets wait till EOR, Kriss, or any of the other FCers who are still hanging out there, can confirm on Monday on how the schedule looks like.

The media-days on the 13th and 14th start at 14:30 and run until sunset. I'll be there both days, if on the 13th it doesn't work inside, I'll stay outside on the 14th. The PAO confirmed there's an afternoon-launch and an evening-launch, no morning-launch. Thank you guys in advance, for sharing any information from Monday and Tuesday!

Maybe we can ask them to arrange those "most interesting" fighters to take off on the east runway on media day. Mickey, your avatar pic looks very Chinese. You took it at Datangshang, Beijing? John

Yes, it's the J-6 closest to the entrance to the tunnel. I wrote an article on the museums in Beijing. Don't know if it's visible to non-subscribers . Mickey

Shooting from inside Wed will pretty much figure into where I shoot on Thur as well as if I'll be coming up on the 21st.

I will be over from 18th till the mediaday on 21th. No idea yet about the timetable for the 21th, only have the the confirmation from the PAO but no times yet. If the schedule is correct this will probably start about 3.30 pm? The light should indeed be great from the outside if they launch that late, should mean they recover at about 18.00 pm. Inside would be perfect for the aircraft using the far runway. Maybe PA can ask them to use the far runway a bit more.... Look forward to coming over and enjoying 4 days of superb photographing.
