Are those Dryden birds accessable by us "general public?" Have they ever put a replacement nose on the NF-104 yet? I mean with the LONG pitot tube...

Here are a few I took awhile back - the Salt Lake Community College A&P class was putting some much needed TLC into "Jailbird" the C-123 used for the ground shots in the movie "Con-Air"

2nd and 3rd ones are from the Korean Air Force KT-1 base.  I've never seen a T-37 with tiptanks before.

I made a trip out to Battle Mountain Nevada this weekend.  They have some great planes, and the F-4 is an ex-thunderbird to!

thanks for reminding me about this place in the middle of nowhere Tom

is it still a working museum or, as I suspect, are the airframes being left in situ with no care due to the closure of the museum?

Sadly they are just sitting, I saw no museum at all.  Battle Mountain seems to be too far out of the way for most folks - and I admit - not sure I would have ever stopped just for the heck of it.

If you do go by, be sure to stop in at the FBO and ask for some help with the gate - its locked.  then while walking around the planes watch your feet for Owl pellets and so forth - they have put the airframes to good use (for an Owl).  The F-111 is an "A" model but I was unable to see inside the cockpit to see how complete.  The F-4 is pretty well stripped by the AF.  I understand that the C-119 was involved in an accident during its active life as a heavy firebomber.  So rather than repair it Hawkins and Powers donated the airframe.  Watch yourstep by as you walk around it - a large flock of pigeons call the tail booms "home"

I saw this place on Google Earth and was wondering what it was, as I couldn't find any reference on it anywhere.  That F-86 on the stick is awesome, look at that rocket bay, that's something straight out of the Thunderbirds (UK).

I see corrosion in several spots.  Not much of the tail fin is visible.  The horizontal stabilator is modified with the slots incorporated from the F-4J, but this was installed on all but the first F-4E.  The right nozzle looks to be (barely) attached with a rod that disapears into the engine bay.   I give up!  What is wrong or missing?
