Under the catagory of "wrecks"...

While waiting for the gates to open to the Scott AFB Airshow last weekend, I hopped over to the other side where the Mid-America Airport is and this is what I found... a de-winged harrier... very interesting... it was just outside a hangar...

Here's something else I found... old navy jet trainer wings.. (off a goshawk maybe? I dunno)... just laying in the grass, beside the driveway.  Heck, if I had a pickup truck I could have very well driven off w/ 'em!  (Not that I would, or that I would have any use for them!  Cheesy)

I recall looking over the fence at a gas station in Burbank, and seeing a T-38 and F-104 fuselage, wings and parts.
Looked like they'd been torched apart, not crashed or disassembled.

These were taken at the USS KIDD (DD-661) Veterans Memorial in Baton Rouge today.  I remember these from my Navy days in the 1960's.  Does anyone know why they're not seen at airshows?

None are flying anymore, at least in the US.  Greece still flys the A-7 Corsair II I think.

BFE...
Melrose, New Mexico (near Cannon AFB and Melrose Bombing Range

This airplane has been in bad shape until recently when a group of vets put a fence around it and gave it a nice new paint job.

I'll take a stab... They could be wings from a T-39.  The "F" markings would suggest Pensacola NAS.

that checks on the T-39 from VT-86 at NAS Pensacola. You can tell by the leading edge slat. I couldn't even guess how it got there. It doesn't look like it's left from a mishap or anything.

Well, this isn't an airplane, but it fits in the "wrecks and relics" category...

Many outdoor displays are in tough shape due to lack of attention/upkeep, but here's one where the owners actually went out of their way to destroy it... Shocked

(from last Friday's open-house at the Hardwood Range)

With a little Bondo, it will look as good as new!

What ever happened to the H-46 Sea Knight that was in front of the Tomcat?  It was there as recently as June;  The Hornet in Blue Angel colors used to be adjacent to the gate that brings you onto the tarmac where the museum has its outdoor displays.
