thanks Dave - I use the civvies as practice - dark side shooting does have SOME merit.  Evil

I was lucky with the light on the Herc as it made the prop disc stand out nicely as sometimes, like the Dash, they are almost invisible in the wrong light angle.

Cheers guys.

What makes it easier with the slow shutter speeds is if the object, in this case the aircraft, is moving so that you can pan with it. The percentage of keepers will increase. Different story when they're flying since they are at speed and will test your panning ability.

Here is another example, not quite as sharp and quite a bit of noise (iso 1600) but still pleased with it. Same C-130 but at night, 1/5 sec using a monopod. Rattle of few shots and you're bound to get one or two keepers.
