This trio of Tomcats made a pass prior to a Carolina Panthers game in Nov. 2003.  Too bad I was sitting on the wrong side of the stadium.

Since the F-14 seems to be so popular with people here, I'll throw out a few...

VF-102 CAG bird (really -- they changed the nose number to match the Squadron) at NAS Oceana.

A pair of VF-211 aircraft, also at Oceana

VF-32 F-14Bs, Oceana

VF-41's CAG bird heading off for DACT with F/A-18s, guess where...

Meanwhile, from the other side of the continent, an F-14D basks in weak October sunshine on the fantail of USS Constellation.

And lastly, a set from Reno: VF-101's F-14D demo ship...

... plus one of the coolest cats of all -- an NSAWC F-14 in IRIAF markings.

Three of the squadrons illustrated here now fly Super Bugs, and NSAWC gave up its Turkeys last year.  Going, going....

It's become sort of a tradition that Navy Squadrons that have their SQ. Number fall within the Modex numbers will paint that bird up in the "Colors" and call them "Showbirds" nowdays ...

Great Pics, thanks for sharing them ...

The sun was high in the sky, so the photos came out really inconsistant.

Well, since it's on the right coast now, I guess I'll never have a chance to see it...

Chris,
I think Vandy1 is expected to be demiled by then. Word has it it'll wind up at the air park at the entrance to Oceana. They may have it on display by then.

Jon

Bummer Embarrassed

Will it be possible to see the jet by the main gate at the show? I seem to remember that bases in the US tend to have a collection of gate guards rather than the 'one per base' rule that the MOD enforce in the UK, are there other historic aircraft at Oceana and can you see them?
