Anyone besides me seem to notice that there are a lot more photos of the Raptor being uploaded than the Thunderbirds, who were the headliner act of the show?

Could it be that because Marietta is where the Raptor is built, that people around here care more about it than the Thunderbirds or could it be that this was the first Raptor demo done in the Metro Atlanta area....

Hello Clifford. It was good shooting with you on Saturday!

Certainly the Raptor  is the "Rockstar" of the circuit right now...and for good reason. I thnk the other reason that there are fewer T-bird pictures is that by the time they flew, the sun was making shooting more difficult. I was able to get a fair number of good T-bird photos but I really had to work at it.

Both days after about 1430 I found the back lighting just brutal  Head Against Wall. All in all still a very good show, but honestly the great company to shoot with was the best part.

Hello,
I am a new member of Fence Check, and new to aviation photography, with a LOT to learn. The Marietta show was my second attempt, the first being a local show here in Rome Ga. last month. All prop aircraft, much easier targets than the jets I discovered. Really enjoy the fantastics photos here, a high standard to strive for. Hope to meet some of you in the future. Some  photos of the Raptor taken during Saturday morning practice have an almost surreal apperance to them (some of mine included) not sure why. Maybe the early morning light.

Man, oh man. I sure hope the vapor Gods are smiling on us, as well, at Lackland next weekend. Really nice shot, Bill.   Dance

On static display was an Air Force Boeing C-40C. This type of plane is not usually seen as a static display at Atlanta area air shows, so I found some time on early Sunday morning to visit it and talk with the pilot, USAF Lt. Col. Rob Witzel, about the plane.

Plane number 50730 is a Boeing Business Jet or 737-700 with certain upgrades and modifications. It has the flight deck from a 737-800, as well as the higher capacity engines. The plane is also outfitted with four extended range fuel tanks.

According to Lt. Col. Witzel, the plane is mainly used to fly members of Congress, high ranking government department heads, and also high ranking military officers. The plane has all "First Class" seating and can fly 40 passengers and up to 11 crew. It has a conference room on board as well as advanced communications to keep the passengers in touch while in flight.

Here are a few photos of the plane that I took on Sunday morning:

Added a gradient to the otherwise plain sky and think it helped some of the images.
