Hello all,
I'm Scott Lloyd. I was the flight mechanic on the Coast Guard's HH-65C. I was wondering if you all liked the SAR demo and if perhaps anyone knows where I could get some pics of myself hoisting. I've just never seen myself before, not to mention I think my folks would enjoy seeing them. Anywho, I hoped you guys enjoyed it and any help would be terrific!!!!

My personal email address is coastielloyd@gmail.com

Thanks in advance!

Scott:

I was at the show both Saturday and Sunday and enjoyed the SAR demo. My suggestion would have been to hold it a little closer to show center, so people on both ends of the showline would have been able to view it. Unfortunately I don't think the people over by the Raptor side of the showline got to see the demo.

Here are a couple of quick photos I took on Saturday. The first one was of you being lowered and the second was when you were coming back up. I will send these to your email address above.

Vapor versus Sound Barrier Wave?

I haven't had the opportunity to photograph a plane breaking the sound barrier, but I understand you get an photo effect that circles around the plane and looks like a vapor ring.

The reason I mention this is because while I was reviewing my photos from this past weekend I saw the series of photos I posted below. These photos were taken on Saturday morning at about 10 a.m. when Major Moga was doing his practice flight and making a high speed pass.

I am not sure if what I see in the photos are just vapor trails forming or if I happened to catch the sound barrier effect as parts of the plane might have been reaching that speed. I know some people mentioned that they thought they heard a mini sonic noise that morning.

I ask the many experts on this site to view the photo series and let me know if you think it is just vapor or did I catch some sound barrier effects of the F-22 Raptor while making a high speed pass.

Agreed. That T-bird shot is very nice.

They appear before the jet breaks the barrier. You can see them all the time during high speed passes when the humidity works to your advantage.

I'm new here, been lurking for a few days, keeping eyes on this thread. My 18 yr old son and I went to the Sunday show, and had a great time!!! One of the best air shows I've seen in many years. Yes the busing was awful but the show made up for it!! We are from Greenville, SC and when I was a kid the T-birds or Blues would come to Donaldson Center every year, now we don't have anything close to us.  There are some great photographers on this site!!! I'm just an amateur, but I try.  Well enough chat, here are a few of my better shots from Sunday.

Great shots to all! Thank you all for sharing.  I was unable to make it due to some late minute changes at work. Keep the shots coming!

Great stuff everyone.  Here are a very few from me, feel free to let me know if they're too big...  As Bill said, we finally got good lighting and plenty of vapes on the East Coast!
