Newest entry to the blog is available and the topic is tented structures on crowdline....

Quote
Tents, wind-breaks and mini gazebos - a perennial issue with our visitors. There is no doubt that they serve a purpose against the great British weather, however they do raise a number of complaints when placed on the crowdline in Park & View.

Last year the team implemented a ‘clear zone’ next to the crowdline and no structures were allowed in this area.  It only lasted a day as there were too many complaints about not being able to pitch in that area!

Your thoughts on this subject would be appreciated…

Never understood the point of having a "cover" over your head when the purpose of the event is to observe things...over your head.

The world's most advanced jet fighter will make its UK debut at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford this summer.It may share its name with a dinosaur, but the F-22A Raptor uses technology that's anything but prehistoric.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong (I hope so) but is the Raptor only displaying in the UK on the Saturday at Fairford and the Monday at Farnborough? Surely it would do both days at RIAT and more than one day at F'boro?

So looks like a good year... does anyone know who will be doing the Navy F-18F Im assuming it would be a east coast squadron or perhaps a squadron on deployment...

If its an east coast (NAS Oceana) im guessing it would be one of:

    * VFA-11 Red Rippers (F)(Assuming they will be deployed)
    * VFA-32 Swordsmen (F)
    * VFA-103 Jolly Rogers (F) (Assuming they will be deployed)
    * VFA-106 Gladiators (E/F)
    * VFA-211 Fighting Checkmates (F)
    * VFA-213 Blacklions (F)

Last time it was a low-viz jet from VFA-122 (West Coast Training sqn IIRC) and the time before it was a hi-viz jet from VFA-2 (also West Coast) so who can tell. Just hope it is a high-viz jet.

VFA-11 and VFA-32 are presently deloyed onboard CVN-75 . They should return to Oceana well before RIAT. I think it will be a jet of one of the other squadrons.

The F/A-18F Demo at RIAT, Farnborough, Paris, etc is usually flown by a Boeing test pilot, not an active duty military demo team (Oceana or Lemoore). I'm not sure how they decide which squadron will be represented. This past year at the Australian Intl' Air Show, they used a VFA-102 "Diamondbacks" Super Hornet in the squadron CO's jet. Beautiful paintjob.

Just wondering if anyone else has decided to attend and if you would mind me and Terri (my Fiance) joining you?

Will be in the Park and View from Wednesday until Friday. Wouldn't be too difficult to find me.
