Just confirmed that Cavanaugh Flight Museum is sending the OV-1D Mohawk and the TBM Avenger.
We will be leaving tomorrow evening...weather permitting...otherwise very early Saturday morning.

Stop by and say hi if you are at the show...

As of yesterday, Scott Perdue had shown up in Ruff Stuff, Bill Greenwood is here in the Spit, as well as two SuperBugs. Haven't been out there today, but I've heard more arrivals over the hotel. One being a Merlin.

So far, weather today is hazy but sunny.

A rainy and windy morning cleared up in time for the flying to start for the Saturday show but late in the afternoon a runway accident involving the two-seat Spitfire and the Hurricane brought some sadness to the event.  Both pilots were okay after the incident but the aircraft involved will require some major work to get them back into flying condition.  The details are still coming in but basically the Spitfire ended up nose down and limping after colliding with the Hurricane that landed just before it.  A few pics of what happened.

It was a close one that could have ended even worse.

Most of the people at the show (including myself) didn't realize anything had happened until the Avenger coming in behind the Spitfire started raising his gear for a go around.  It was then that the crowd looked down the runway to see the two planes sitting there at odd angles.  The show a few minutes later though as the officials realized that both pilots were okay.  As luck would have it the main runway was not blocked so the rest of the aircraft could land and take off as needed.

The turnout didn't seem to be as heavy this year as it has in years past but I'm sure that the torrential rains that hit the field during the morning hours had a lot to do with it.  This is one show worth attending as the organizers really keep things rolling once they get started and they have a knack for getting some good acts each year.

Bummer about those two British birds.

On a more positive note, that Legacy Flight is killer!  Bearcat, Hellcat, Bug.  2/3 of the airplanes are manly!  Love it!

Cheers,

Both planes suffered significant damage, but more importantly, both pilots emerged uninjured.  Smiley
This was the first airshow for the Hurricane which recently completed a multi-year restoration.  A major shame, but certainly repairable.
Credit goes to the show organizers for keeping the ball rolling once it was determined that all were OK.

I heartily agree...rain and clouds Saturday morning, with sunshine from about 1130 onward.
Sunday was sunny until about 0900, then rain until 1500...ugh!
A few planes flew under cloudy skies at the end of the day, some making a few passes along the field before departing for home.

Glad to know only the aircraft are scratched!

Anyone get any pictures of the Viper fly over yesterday?
